Agricultural nonwovens by Ahlstrom and Ellepot
100% biobased and biodegradable agricultural nonwovens by Ahlstrom and Ellepot

Together with Ellepot and Ahlstrom we have worked for years to develop a binder system that can be used for wetlaid nonwovens for agricultural products. In 2020 we achieved this when our customer Ahlstrom and their customer Ellepot decided to launch the world’s first paper certified for use in organic crop production.
Key for making the product biodegradable has been to replace the traditional plastic binder in the nonwoven material with OrganoClick’s 100% biobased and biodegradable binder. Launched by Ellepot in 2021, the Organic 2.0 paper pot is a completely organic product for growing crops on an industrial scale. The new product has allowed the companies to enter the organic crop segment, which is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years. Unlike other similar growing pots on the market, Organic 2.0 paper pot does not contain any hidden plastic, and therefore does not add microplastics to the soil.
”Working with our suppliers in co-developing smarter materials for the Ellepot customized solution supports our vision to help customers improve production efficiency, optimize handling, reduce plastic, and deliver increased yields and lower costs of goods produced. Minimum effort, maximum impact being the key feature to a smarter solution, we trust the co-development will continue to provide new and sustainable materials for the future.”
